Commander Maroon (マルーン司令官 Marūn Shirei, lit. Commander Maroon) is a character from Natsuki Chronicles.

He originally appears as Natsuki's superior, always expecting the best of her. After she deflects from the Rapid Deployment Force and destroys the orbital station in Stage 9, he becames the main antagonist of the game and the final boss in Stage 10, engaging in combat with Natsuki, only to be defeated by her.

Curiosities

• Maroon is a dark reddish purple or dark brownish red color that takes its name from the French word marron, or chestnut. The Oxford English Dictionary describes it as "a brownish crimson or claret color."
• He is the first character of the game named after a color.
• The visor and his haircut gives him a striking resemblance to Cyclops from Marvel's X-Men.
• Ryuichi Hirose voiced Maroon.
• While Qute's translation on the XBOX One version of Natsuki Chronicles calls him "Captain Maroon", the Rising Star Games localization calls him Commander, which is the correct translation of "Shirei".
• Maroon's despective comment of Margaret and Alex calling them "rookies born in Seven Tier" might imply that he wasn't born on the planet and he's not the only Non-Seven Tier native within the MSS/RDF.
